Centre, C-G run at Fairfield

Centre and Canton-Galva competed at the Fairfield Quint track meet Tuesday, April 17.

The Centre boys (81) finished second to Fairfield (96), while Moundridge (63) edged Canton-Galva (62) for third and Inman (44) placed fifth.

Winning gold for Centre were N. Cole in the long jump (18-51⁄4), Seth Jirak in the shot put (45-9) and discus (138-2),

Alex Klenda in the javelin (149-3), J. Weber in the high jump (5-51⁄2) and K. Mueller in the 1,600 (5:24).

Stephen Jowers of Canton-Galva won four events: the 100 meters (11.76), 200 meters (24.44), 110-meter hurdles (16.84) and 300-meter hurdles (43.35). Also winning gold for the Eagles was R. Shannon in the 3,200 (11:25).

In the girls? division, Canton-Galva (42), Centre (33) and Inman (42) were distant finishers behind Moundridge (137) and Fairfield (90).

Brittany Owens won Centre?s only gold medal, winning the javelin (108-1), while A. Enns was the only gold-medal winner for Canton-Galva, placing first in the 300-meter hurdles (55.88).
