Banman, Frey lead Goessel track teams to second place at Berean April 28

Both Goessel High School track teams placed second among five teams at the Berean Quint April 28. Craig Banman led the boys team with individual first place finishes in the 100, 200 and 400 sprints, while Weston Heibert added 300 meter hurdles gold. Jared Reimer placed first in the 3,200. Evan Hiebert (high jump) and Anthony Esau (long jump).

The boys 4×400 relay capped a banner day for the Bluebirds, as John Berkholz, Austin Unruh, Hiebert and Banman teamed up to bring home an eighth first place finish.

Berean Academy claimed first place in boys team scoring with 131 points. Goessel was second with 113 points.

On the girls side, Aspen Frey won gold in the javelin and 1,600 individually, and also as part of the 4×800, and 4×400 relays. Kristen Hoffman placed first in the 3,200 and Shanna Klassen placed first in the discus.

Frey closed the 4×800 after Kendra Flaming, Isabel Tomaj, and Karina Harvey ran the first three legs, and the same group won the 4×400 with Flaming anchoring. Berean took the girls team title with 116 points. Goessel placed second with 90.

Coming?Goessel competed at Tescott May 5 and travels to Remington Friday.
