Little River defeated regular season Wheat State League champion Goessel, 25-18, 15-25, 26-24, for the league tournament title Saturday at Centre.

Peabody-Burns took third, defeating Elyria, 25-24, 27-25.

Goessel finished the day 4-1, sweeping pool play and Elyria in the semifinal round, 25-15, in both games.

In pool play Goessel beat Wakefield, 25-15, 25-19, Centre 25-19, 25-12, and PBHS?25-28, 26-24. PBHS?finished with a 3-2 record, beating Centre, 25-22, 25-22, and Wakefield, 25-9, 25-16, in pool play.

Host Centre did not avance to the playoff rounds, finshing 1-2. CHS defeated Wakefield, 25-11, 25-12, in pool play.

Coming?PBHS?travels to Class 2A sub-state at Berean Academy Saturday in Elbing. The Warriors will be joined by Central (Burden), Canton-Galva, Chase County, Berean Academy, Inman, Moundridge and Oxford.

Goessel will play ina Class 1A sub-state at Burrton with the home team, Pretty Prairie, Flinthills, South Haven and Udall.

Centre will host Claflin, Little River, Southern Cloud, Sylvan Grove-Sylvan-Lucas and White City in a Class 1A sub-state.
