The Goessel volleyball team is headed to the Class 1A Division 1 state tournament after winning its sub-state tournament Saturday in Burrton.

The Bluebirds defeated Burrton, 25-15, 25-18, and Flint Hills, 25-11, 25-11.

Jennifer Van Horn had seven aces and five blocks. Paige Booten had 13 kills and Aimee Flaming contributed 25 assists. Tia Goertzen and Booten had 10 digs.

Goeesel (26-11) also won the Wheat State League title and starts 1A state competition Friday at Fort Hays State University.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors advanced to the semifinals of the Class 2A sub-state tournament Saturday at Berean Academy. The Warriors defeated Burden Central, 25-15, 25-12, then lost in the semifinals to the host school, 25-13, 26-24.

Canton-Galva?The Eagles reached the other semifinal round at Berean Academy. After beating Chase County in the first round, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19, CGHS was swept in the semi?s by Inman, 25-14, 25-10.

Centre? The Cougars ended their season in the first round of of sub-state Saturday on their home court, losing to Southern Cloud, 25-22, 26-24.
