?The Bluebirds placed fourth in their own tournament with a 2-3 record for the day.
Sedgwick defeated Goessel (18-25, 25-16, 16-25), then Goessel defeated Halstead (25-17, 25-10) and South Haven (25-17, 25-22). Goessel ran out of gas against Central (19-25, 23-25) and Remington (18-25, 21-25).
Coach Crysta Guhr said Aspen Frey had ?a phenomenal day? with 38 kills and 21 digs. Frey also posted a 35 of 37 serving mark with four aces.
?She really stepped up when we needed kills,? Guhr said.
Rinda Duerksen and Karis Janzen each had 20 blocks on the day. Duerksen also had 23 digs. Karina Harvey led in digs with 47 Jessica Goertzen led in assists with 80.
Goessel (8-3) plays Tuesday night at Inman.
Centre
?The Cougars hosted their annual invitational, posting a 1-2 record. Centre downed Hope (25-20, 25-18) after battling both of the eventual first-place finalists to three games.
The Cougars lost to champion Marion (25-22, 19-25, 18-25) and runner up Little River (23-25, 25-23, 13-25).
