PBHS took a 13-12 lead in Game 1 against Chase County and pushed that advantage to 18-14 behind strong serving from Julie Wedel. But Chase County rallied for 11 of the next 16 points to take the game.
?We came out on a nice run to start the second game,? coach Darren Schroeder said.
Peabody-Burns led 5-1 after Becky Morris finished serving and opened a 20-12 lead.
In Game 3, Morris had six kills and Wedel and Danielle Savage four. Jessica Gillet served seven aces.
Against Trinity, the Warriors took an 18-17 lead, but the hosts rallied to tie the score at 22 before grabbing three straight points. Trinity parlayed the momentum into a 15-3 lead in the Game 2. PBHS rallied, but did not close within eight points.
Savage had 11 kills in the match and Morris six.
Peabody Burns (14-12) visited Hutch Trinity Oct. 2 and will play at home Oct. 9. The Heart of America league tournament is slated for Oct. 13.
Goessel
Playing at home on Sept. 25, Goessel defeated Berean (25-10, 25-20) and Peabody-Burns (25-16, 18-25, 25-23).
The Bluebirds played Tuesday at Sedgwick and will play at Little River Oct. 9.
Canton-Galva
The Eagles hosted its 28th annual tournament on Saturday. Seeded eighth, CGHS (11-14) lost to Hesston (13-25, 9-25), Hillsboro (25-27, 23-25) and Solomon (11-25, 18-25) in pool play.
Centre
The Cougars lost to Sunrise (9-25, 13-25) before trouncing Saint Xavier (25-27) Thursday.
CHS was led in both matches by Carlye Simons, who tallied seven kills on 13 attempts.
Centre (9-11) hosted a triangular Oct. 2 in preparation for the Eisenhower league tournament Saturday at Hope.
