In the championship match, the Eagles won Game 1, 25-11, but Sedgwick rallied for a 25-18 win in Game 2. The rubber game then went to Sedgwick, 25-16.

CGHS defeated Eureka (25-15, 25-17) to advance to the title match.

Kylie Haines and Kaycie Shearer led the offense with 19 and 16 kills, respectively. Shearer added nine aces from the service line.

Goessel

The Bluebirds went 3-0 in pool play at the eight-team Tescott Invitational on Saturday, but went 0-2 in bracket play to finish fourth.

According to coach Crysta Guhr, the Bluebirds played their best volleyball of the season in the morning.

?Everything clicked,? she said. ?We passed extremely well, set the ball up and finished it. We ran a lot of options on offense and were able to mix it up real well.?

Rinda Duerksen killed off 50 points on the day.

?She was a dominate figure in the front row for us?both hitting and blocking,? Guhr said. ?She has improved each and every night and is a very fun and dynamic player to watch.?

Karina Harvey was an impact player in the Bluebird back row.

?She took hold of the defense and was everywhere,? Guhr said.

At a Sept. 11 triangular at Remington, Goessel lost to the home team (20-25, 12-25) and Inman (10-25, 16-25).

Goessel (8-10) played Mound?ridge on Tuesday and will compete at a tournament in Olpe on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
