Canton-Galva: The Eagles came in fifth in the Goessel Invitational Saturday.

They lost their second game to Burrton in the first round, 23-25, but won the other two sets, 25-7 and 25-13. The Eagles lost to Sedgwick 9-25 and 19-25, before losing to Halstead 18-25, 15-25.

They defeated South Haven 25-22, 25-19, for the fifth-place finish.

Canton-Galva was scheduled to play in the Ell-Saline Triangular Sept. 13.

Centre: The Cougars took third on their home court last Saturday in the Centre Invita?tional, behind Berean and Marion.

In pool play, Centre defeated Herington, 25-18, 25-20, before getting wins against Tescott, 25-19, 25-22.

Centre won its match against Little River in the final round of pool play, losing the first game, 17-25, but winning the next two, 25-21 and 25-18.

The Cougars lost to Berean in the semifinals, winning their second game, 25-13, but losing the other two, 17-25 and 22-25.

They defeated Little River, 25-19 and 25-22, in the third-place match.

Bryanna Svoboda had 28 kills in the tournament,

Centre split wins Sept. 6, defeating Elyria before losing to Goessel.

Centre lost its first set to Elyria 9-25, but managed a 25-18 victory to put them back in the running. They won the last set 25-19.

Anna Weber and Bryanna Svoboda let the Cougars with seven kills each.

Goessel defeated Centre 13-25 in the first set and 16-25 in the second set for the win.

The Bluebirds held Weber to two kills and Svoboda to three.

The Cougars were scheduled to compete Sept. 13 in the Centre Triangular.

Goessel? The Bluebirds hosted the Goessel Invitational Saturday, finishing in fourth place.

Central Christian defeated the Bluebirds in the first round of pool play, 28-26, 29-27.

Goessel defeated South Haven in the second roud, 25-17, 25-22, before nabbing a victory over Flinthills Christian, 25-5, 25-9.

Halstead defeated?Goessel in the semifinals, 25-22, 25-21 and Sedgwick beat the Bluebirds 25-15, 26-24 to give them a fourth-place finish.

Goessel was scheduled to take on Peabody on the road Sept. 13.
