Goessel?The track meet Goessel was scheduled to host last Tuesday was postponed until Friday because of weather.

The Goessel boys took third among five teams with 49 points behind Berean (187) and Hillsboro (96), while the girls placed third with 72 points behind Berean (199) and Hillsboro (79).

The boys were led by Brian Hiebert, who placed first in the shot put (39 feet, 0.5 inches).

The girls, meanwhile, enjoyed three first-place finishes: Page Hiebert in the long jump (14-21?2) and Tia Goertzen in the 100 hurdles (17.20 seconds) and 300 hurdles (51.90).

The Bluebirds participated April 5 at the Bennington Invita?tional, where both the girls and boys placed 11th.

Tia Goertzen led the girls with a second-place finish in the 100 hurdles (17.34).

For the boys, Nathan Czarnowsky placed second in long jump (17-81?2).

The Bluebirds were scheduled to compete at Sterling Tuesday and will travel to Norwich Friday.

Peabody-Burns?The CKTL meet Peabody was scheduled to host April 9 was canceled because of weather and will not be rescheduled.

As a replacement, the team competed at the Goessel CKTL meet Friday, where the boys placed fourth out of five teams with 27 points and the girls placed fourth with eight points.

Leading the way for the boys was Braxton Kyle with a second-place finish in high jump (5 feet, 10 inches).

?We did not bring the whole team to this rescheduled meet due to prior commitments, and that affected our overall team score,? coach Brian Lightner said. ?The guys who were here competed very well, several of them competing in new events for the first time.?

The girls, meanwhile, were led by the 4×800 team of Brandee Burnett, Angelica Winsor, Carlee Wentworth and Kenzie Young, which placed second (12:52.8).

?This was a typical middle of the season meet, but there were a few personal records set,? Lightner said.

The Warriors were scheduled to compete at the Haven Quint Tuesday and will take part in the Inman Quint April 23.
