Centre?The Cougars competed at the Fairfield CKTL Quint Tuesday.

The boys turned in three top-three performances. Barrett Smith finished second in the javelin (131-91?2). Max Svoboda, Brendon Bina, Cody Svoboda and Conner Montgomery placed second in the 4×100 relay (49.8). Montgomery also placed third in the 200 (24.9).

As a team, Centre placed fifth with 24 points. Inman won with 86.

Meanwhile, the girls turned in 12 top-three performances. The Cougars brought home three gold medals: Nellie Kassebaum in the 3,200 (15:02.6); and Brenna Shields in the 100 (13.8) and the javelin (95-31?2).

These athletes placed second:?Kailyn Riffel in the shot put (29-71?2) and the javelin (92-81?2); Shields in the long jump (14-3); Alexa Ammann in the discus (86-31?2); and Amanda Salamone in the high jump (4-4).

Four Cougars finished third:?Cassidy Hill in the discus (82-81?2); Callie Riffel in the 800 (2:50.2); Shields in the 200 (28.5); and Summer Espinoza in the shot put (29-61?4).

As a team, the Cougars placed second with 79 points behind Fairfield (83).

Centre then competed at the Council Grove Invita?tional Thursday. Barrett Smith scored the boys? only points, placing second in the javelin (131-91?2).

Meanwhile, Brenna Shields led the girls by placing third in the javelin (103-6). Lotti Benning, Nellie Kassebaum, Callie Riffel and Shelby Makovec placed fourth in the 4×800 in a school-record time of 11:08.4, nearly 30 seconds faster than the previous record set in 2000.

As a team, the girls placed 10th among 11 schools with 141?2 points. Moundridge won with 108.

Centre was to compete in a Quint Tuesday and will travel to the Herington Invitational May 7.

Goessel?The Bluebirds competed at the Hillsboro CKTL meet Tuesday.

The boys brought home three gold medals: Dominik Rebholz in the 3,200 (12:16.2); and Zach Wiens in the 110 hurdles (16.87)?and the 300 hurdles (46.29).

Two relays placed second: Miguel Guerrero, Josh Schmidt, Chase Flaming and Noah Heckel in the 4×100 (46.99) and Heckel, Wiens, Schmidt and Guer?rero in the 4×400 (3:52.2).

Two Bluebirds finished third: Flaming in the shot put (37-10) and Benedikt Heyl in the 3,200 (12:55.15).

As a team, the boys placed fourth with 69 points.

The Bluebird girls, meanwhile, were led by five second-place finishes: Olivia Duerksen in the high jump (4-8); Brittney Hiebert in the 1,600 (5:39.66) and the 800 (2:30.18); Erin Brubaker in the 300 hurdles (54.3); and Aleena Cook in the 200 (29.34).

Two relays placed third: Kara Burkholder, Lauren Rymill, Cook and Duerksen in the 4×100 (57.54); and Rachel Manis, Brubaker, Hiebert and Rymill in the 4×400 (4:40.53).

As a team, the girls placed fifth with 74 points.

The Bluebirds competed at the Norwich Invitational Friday. Zach Wiens paved the way for the boys by winning the 110 hurdles (15.81) and the 300 hurdles (45.8).

As a team, the boys placed ninth of 14 teams with 28 points. Attica won with 79.

Meanwhile, the girls won three events: Olivia Duerksen in the high jump (4-8); and Brittney Hiebert in the 1,600 (5:39.7) and the 800 in a meet record-breaking time of 2:33.15.

As a team, the girls placed fifth with 50 points. Cunningham won with 98.

The Bluebirds were scheduled to host a CKTL Quint Tuesday and will travel to the Tescott Invitational May 5.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors competed at the Fairfield Quint Tuesday.

The boys earned 12 top-three finishes, including three gold medals.

Cody Partridge paved the way by winning the high jump (6-0) and the 300 hurdles (46.24) and placing second in the long jump (17-10). Nick Preheim won the shot put (39-8).

These Warriors finished second:?Bailey Penner in the 100 (11.84); Clayton Philpott in the shot put (38-23?4) and the triple jump (35-71?4); Austin Reynolds in the 110 hurdles (18.21); and Bryant Young in the 800 (2:26.55).

Three Warriors placed third: Chance Elliott in the 110 hurdles (19.08); Philpott in the long jump (16-91?2); and Young in the 1,600 (5:07.59).

As a team, the boys placed second with 77 points behind Inman (86).

The girls, meanwhile, turned in six top-three performances, led by these second-place finishers: Katy Benson in the 200 (28.08)?and the 400 (1:09.38); and Nicole Sanders in the 3,200 (17:03.93).

These Warriors placed third: Mallory Harris in the 300 hurdles (1:00.46); Emily Timmermeyer in the 1,600 (7:09.81); and Anna Lubbers, Jory Rives, Cheyenne Shaw and Benson in the 4×100 relay (59.21).

As a team, the girls placed fifth with 32 points. Langdon-Fairfield won with 83.

The Warriors were scheduled to compete at Goessel tuesday and will travel to Hillsboro Friday.
