CANTON-GALVA—The Eagles were scheduled to resume post-tournament play Jan. 30 with a game at Rural Vista. On Friday, the Eagles will host highly rated Elyria Christian.

CENTRE—The Cougars were scheduled to resume post-tournament play with two home games: Jan. 30 against Solomon, followed by a game Friday with Goessel.

GOESSEL—The Blue­bird boys got off to a strong start against Moundridge Friday night, but the visiting Wild­cats prevailed with a 40-29 victory.

Goessel led after one quarter, 10-5, with Jordan Griffin scoring six points for the home team. Moundridge got eight points from Jerod Kaufman in the second quarter to take a 19-15 lead going into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Bluebirds managed only two points while Moundridge scored nine for a 28-17 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Wildcats’ Noah Eichel­berger broke loose for all 12 points in the quarter to help his team nail down the 40-29 win.

The win boosted Mound­ridge’s record to 9-4 for the season while Goessel slipped to 2-11.

The Bluebirds boys and girls were scheduled to play at Little River on Tuesday and travel to Centre on Friday for Wheat State League games.

PEABODY-BURNS—The Warriors will be seeking their first wins of the season this week with games at home against Elyria Christian on Jan. 30 and Solomon on Friday.
