Canton-Galva?The Eagles hosted Ell-Saline Friday. The girls lost, 40-24. Erika Smith led the Eagles with eight points.

The boys followed with a 55-44 victory over Ell-Saline.

The Eagles host the 40th Canton-Galva tournament this week. Participating schools include Derby Invasion, Rock Creek, Wichita Home, Bennington, Sedgwick, St. John Military School and Ell-Saline.

First-round games were played Monday and Tuesday, with additional games scheduled for Thursday and Fri?day.

Centre?The Cougars traveled to Little River Tuesday. The girls fell to Little River, 45-39. Cacey Simons led the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The boys also lost, 70-59. Ty Simons led the Cougars with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Dakota Stimpson added 10 points.

Centre will host the Cougar Classic this week, with the following teams participating:?Rural Vista, Manhattan Flinthills, Solo?mon, Marion, Peabody-Burns, Wakefield and Elyria Christian.

As the No. 1 seed, the Cougar girls were to face No. 8 Manhattan Flinthills Tuesday. The Cougar boys, the No. 2 seed behind Rural Vista, were scheduled to face No. 7 Wakefield.

Additional games will be played Friday and Saturday. Schedules are yet to be announced.

Goessel?The Bluebirds hosted Argonia Tuesday.

The girls lost, 52-39. The Bluebirds trailed 25-17 at halftime. Argonia outscored Goessel 17-2 in the third quarter. The Bluebirds rallied one last time, outscoring Argonia 20-10 in the fourth quarter, but fell short.

Goessel shot 33 percent from the field. Page Hiebert led the Bluebirds with eight points.

The Bluebird boys defeated Argonia 54-51. After trailing 35-30 at halftime, Goessel outscored Argonia 24-16 in the second half to grab the win.

Goessel shot 34 percent from the field. Ben Wiens led with 27 points. Lawton Mako??vec added 12 and Reece Hiebert 10.

Goessel hosted Elyria Christian Friday. The girls lost, 41-22. Hiebert led the Bluebirds with six points.

The Goessel boys defeated Elyria, 51-18. Wiens led the Bluebirds with 21 points. Makovec added 10. The Bluebirds shot 42 percent from the field (20-48).

Goessel will host Mound?ridge Friday before participating in the Berean Academy tournament next week.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors hosted Rural Vista Tuesday. The girls lost, 45-25. Peabody-Burns led 19-18 at halftime, but Rural Vista outscored the Warriors 27-6 in the second half. Christa Elliott PBHS with nine points.

The Warrior boys lost, 65-42. Peabody-Burns trailed, 33-19, at halftime. Xavier Jabary led PBHS with 15 points.

The Warriors traveled to Wakefield Friday. The girls lost, 43-34, and the boys came up on the short end of a 40-36 score.

Peabody-Burns will compete in the Cougar Classic at Centre this week. Participa?ting teams are Rural Vista, Centre, Manhattan Flint?hills, Solomon, Marion, Wake?field and Elyria Chris?tian.

The Warriors were scheduled to open tournament play Tuesday. The seventh-seeded girls were scheduled to face No. 2 Rural Vista, while the sixth-seeded boys were slated to face No. 3 Manhattan Flinthills.

Additional games will be played Friday and Saturday. Schedules are yet to be announced.
