Canton-Galva?The Eagle boys participated in their home tournament last week.

The Eagles opened with a 59-31 loss to Derby Invasion. Canton-Galva then fell to Sedgwick, 63-59. That pitted the Eagles against St. John?s Military for seventh place. Canton-Galva won, 80-50.

The Eagle boys will travel to Berean Academy Tuesday.

The Eagle girls were scheduled to participate in the Sedgwick tournament this week.

Centre?Centre hosted the three-day Cougar Classic last week. The girls claimed the tournament championship, while the boys finished as runners-up.

Centre opened tournament play with a 77-16 victory over Flint Hills Job Corps Tuesday. Callie Riffel led the Cougars with 18 points. Shelby Pankratz added 13, Amy Makovec 12 and Cacey Simons 10.

The Cougars then faced Elyria Christian in the semifinals Friday. Centre won, 59-30. Shelby Makovec led the Cougars with 20 points. Simons added 15 and Makenzie Deines 11.

The Cougars then beat Marion in the champion?ship game, 50-36. Shelby Makovec led with a game-high 18 points. Simons added 13. Both were named to the all-tournament team.

The Centre boys defeated Wakefield, 62-53, in Tues?day?s first round. Ty Simons led the Cougars with 29 points. Kyle Methvin added 11. Centre then defeated Flint Hills in the semifinals, 54-43, Friday. Simons scored a game-high 38 points.

Centre faced Rural Vista in the championship Saturday, but came up short, 63-43. Simons led the Cougars with 18 points.

Centre was scheduled to play at Flint Hills Christian Tuesday and will host Wakefield Friday.

Goessel?The Bluebird boys placed fourth at the Burrton Tournament last week. They opened with a victory over Burrton, 69-66.

Goessel shot 46 percent from the field (28-61). Lawton Makovec and Ben Wiens shared scoring honors with 23 points each. Brian Hiebert added 11.

Goessel then faced Fairfield in the semifinals and lost, 49-42. Wiens led the Bluebirds with 12 points. Makovec added 10.

The loss pitted the Blue?birds against Little River for third place. Goessel lost, 63-42. Wiens scored 20 points to lead Goessel.

The Bluebird girls fell to Moundridge Friday, 60-21. Aleena Cook led Goessel with eight points.

The Goessel girls were scheduled to participate in the Berean Academy tournament this week. The Goessel boys will host Moundridge Friday.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors competed at the Cougar Classic tournament at Centre last week. Pea?body-Burns girls lost to No. 2 Rural Vista in the first round, 42-20, Tuesday. Christa Elliott led the Warriors with seven points.

The girls then defeated Wakefield Friday, 40-29. Katy Benson led the Warriors with 14 points. Elliott added 11.

The Warrior then lost to Solomon in the fifth-place game Saturday, 40-26. Riley McDowell led the Warriors with nine points.

The Warrior boys lost to Flint Hills Job Corps, 68-65, in the first round Tuesday. Braxton Kyle led the Warriors with 22 points. Xavier Jabary added 11 and Vince New?man 10.

The Warriors then lost a close game to Wakefield Friday, 51-49. Kyle scored a game-high 27 points.

Peabody-Burns concluded the tournament with a 45-38 victory over Elyria Christian to claim seventh place. Vince Newman led Peabody-Burns with a game-high 16 points. Kyle added 11.

The Warriors will host Elyria Christian Tuesday.
