Area High School Sports Roundup (Week of February 22, 2017)

Canton-Galva—The Eagles traveled to Centre Tuesday.

The girls lost, 44-34. Kelli Nightingale led the team with 14 points. Emma Ruddle scored 13.

The boys lost, 56-43. Jonah Sargent led the Eagles with 12 points. Hunter Pearson scored 11, and Nick Pearson 10.

The Eagles lost twice to Moundridge Friday: the girls, 60-29, and the boys, 66-21.

Canton-Galva was scheduled to play at Little River Tuesday.

Centre—The Cougars swept Canton-Galva Tuesday.

The girls won, 44-34. Kate Basore scored a game-high 21 points.

The boys won, 56-43. Cody Svoboda led all scorers with 15 points. Dylan Deines and Cole Methvin each scored 10 points.

Centre split games with Chase County Friday.

The girls lost, 45-34. The boys won, 55-51.

The Cougars were scheduled to host peabody-Burns Tuesday and will host Blue Valley-Randolph Friday.

Goessel—The Bluebirds split games with Little River Tuesday. The girls won, 38-30. The boys lost, 51-44. Jordan Griffin scored 16 points.

Goessel lost two games to Berean Academy Friday. The girls lost, 45-33. Eden Hiebert scored 13 points. The boys lost, 50-39. Dylan Lindeman scored 12 points.

The Bluebirds were scheduled to host Udall Tuesday to conclude the regular season.

Peabody-Burns—The Warriors split games with Wakefield Monday. The girls won, 37-26. Mallory Harris led all scorers with 13 points. The boys lost, 39-32. Austin Reynolds led all scorers with 14 points.

The Warriors lost two to Elyria Christian Tuesday: the girls, 38-21, and the boys, 54-40. Austin Reynolds led all scorers for the boys with 17 points.

The Warriors were scheduled to host Centre Tuesday and will host Chase County Friday.
