Area High School Sports Roundup (Week of February 15, 2017)

Canton-Galva—The Eagles swept Peabody-Burns Tuesday.

The girls won, 51-39. Emma Ruddle led all scorers with 24 points. Kelli Nightingale scored 10.

The boys won, 43-35. Hunter Pearson led the effort with 17 points.

The Eagles swept Herington Friday.

The girls won, 63-30, while the boys won, 38-36.

Canton-Galva was scheduled to play at Centre Tuesday and will host Moundridge Friday.

Centre—The Cougars lost two to Elyria Christian Tuesday. The girls lost, 38-25. The boys lost, 40-35.

The Cougars swept Wakefield Friday for homecoming.

The girls won, 38-26. Shelby Pankratz led all scorers with 14 points.

The boys won, 45-40.

The Cougars were scheduled to host Canton-Galva Tuesday and will travel to Chase County Friday.

Goessel—The Bluebirds split games at Herington Tuesday. The girls won, 39-33, but the boys lost, 51-43.

The Bluebirds swept Peabody-Burns Friday.

The girls won, 46-15. Eden Hiebert led all scorers with 19 points.

The boys won, 52-29, despite not scoring in the fourth quarter.

Dylan Lindeman led the Bluebirds with 19 points. Rhett Makovec scored 15, and Jordan Griffin 10. Makovec and Griffin each had nine rebounds.

Goessel was scheduled to play at Little River Tuesday and will host Berean Academy Friday.

Peabody-Burns—The Warriors lost two games to Canton-Galva Tuesday.

The girls lost, 51-39. Mallory Harris led the effort with 10 points.

The boys lost, 43-35. Austin Reynolds led all scorers with 18 points. Rocco Weerts scored 10.

The Warriors lost two to Goessel Friday.

The girls lost, 46-15. Kallie Hutchison scored six points, all in the fourth quarter.

The boys lost, 52-29.

The Warriors were scheduled to host Elyria Christian Tuesday and will host Centre Feb. 21.
