Area High School Sports Roundup (February 8, 2017)

Canton-Galva—The Eagles lost twice to Rural Vista Tuesday: the girls, 47-40; and the boys, 40-36.

The Eagles split games with Elyria Christian Friday. The girls won, 42-40. The boys lost, 60-34.

Canton-Galva played Peabody-Burns Tuesday and will host Herington Friday.

Centre—The Cougars lost to Solomon Tuesday. The girls lost, 36-35, despite holding a 21-13 halftime lead. Shelby Pankratz led the effort with 12 points.

The boys lost, 69-51.

Centre split games with Goessel Friday. The girls lost, 57-32. The boys won, 65-61. Cole Srajer led all scorers with 25 points. Cody Svoboda scored 14, and Dylan Deines 13.

The Cougars were to play at Elyria Christian Tuesday. Centre will host Wakefield Friday for homecoming.

Goessel—The Bluebirds split two games with Little River Tuesday. The girls won, 49-37. Brittney Hiebert had 24 points and 13 rebounds. Jennifer Meysing scored 11 points.

The boys lost, 42-39, in overtime. Jordan Griffin had 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bluebirds split games with Centre Friday.

Eden Hiebert scored a game-high 22 points in a 57-32 win. Brittney Hiebert scored 12.

The boys lost, 65-61, despite outscoring Centre, 43-34 in the second half. Jordan Griffin had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rhett Makovec scored 17 points, and Dylan Lindeman 14.

The Bluebirds were scheduled to play at Herington Tuesday and will travel to Peabody-Burns Friday.

Peabody-Burns—The Warriors lost to Elyria Christian Tuesday.

The girls lost, 48-19. The boys lost, 53-23.

Friday’s scores with Solomon were not available at press time.

The Warriors were scheduled to host Canton-Galva Tuesday and will host Goessel Friday.
