BASEBALL

Canton-Galva?The Eagles lost a pair of games at Moundridge Friday.

Canton-Galva lost Game 1, 10-1. Reed Wiens absorbed the pitching loss, giving up three hits and one earned run. He walked two batters and struck out eight.

Ethan Loyd, Collin Riessig and Logan Miller each recorded a hit.

The Eagles lost Game 2, 15-5.

Jordan Gagnebin sustained the pitching loss, giving up 10 hits and two earned runs. He walked four batters and struck out two.

Devyn Elkins led the team with two hits.

The Eagles were scheduled to host Inman Tuesday and will travel to Ellis Friday.

TRACK

Canton-Galva?The Eagles competed at the Bennington Invitational Friday.

Maddie Snow highlighted the girls? performances with a first-place finish in the 400 (1:04.21).

The boys, meanwhile, earned two sixth-place finishes: Dylan Wood in the 400 (58.1)?and Lane Wiens, Jonah Sargent, Dawson Minson and Wood in the 4×800 (9:36.11).

The Eagles opened the season at the Marion CKTL Tuesday.

Freshman Katie Fiedler highlighted the girls? efforts by winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.71 seconds.

Sophomore Maddie Snow bettered her own school record in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 4 inches, good for second place.

Fiedler and Snow combined to earn all six of the Eagle girls? medals.

As a team, the girls finished fifth with 46 points. Marion won with 186.

Meanwhile, sophomore Dylan Wood was the boys? highest finisher with a third-place finish in the triple jump (34-8).

As a team, the boys finished sixth with 19 points. Marion won with 224.

The Eagles were scheduled to travel to Goessel Tuesday and will compete at Buhler April 19.

Centre?The Cougars competed at the Marion Relays Friday.

Barrett Smith was the boys? highest finisher, placing third in the javelin with a throw of 142 feet, 3 inches.

As a team, the boys tied for 12th in the 15-team field with six points. McPherson won with 90.

Kate Basore led the girls with a third-place finish in the javelin (108-7).

Whitney Gutsch also earned points, placing fourth in the shot put (30-101?4).

As a team, the girls tied for 11th in the 14-team field with 10 points.

The Cougars kicked off the season at the Marion CKTL meet Tuesday.

The boys took the top two places in the javelin to highlight the outing. Barrett Smith won the event (147-10), while Brendon Bina was second (136-4).

As a team, the Cougar boys finished fourth with 39 points. Marion won with 224.

Meanwhile, the girls turned in two third-place finishes: Amanda Salamone in the high jump (4-4), and Summer Espinoza in the shot put (31-1?2).

As a team, the girls finished fifth with 46 points. Marion won with 186.

The Cougars were scheduled to compete at the Halstead CKTL Tuesday and will travel to Buhler April 19.

Goessel?The Bluebirds competed at the Marion Relays Friday.

Zach Wiens led the boys by placing fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.89) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (44.67).

Chase Flaming, Wiens, Zach Zogleman and Josh Schmidt finished sixth in the 4×100 (47.17).

As a team, the boys tied for 12th of 15 teams with six points. McPherson won with 90.

Brittney Hiebert led the girls by finishing second in the 800 (2:27.48), fourth in the 400 (1:04.17) and sixth in the javelin (95-5).

Stephany Meyer, Olivia Duerksen, Julia Nighten?gale and Hiebert were fifth in the 4×400 (4:41.11). Two Bluebirds finished sixth: Savanna Wuest in the shot put (30-21?2) and Meyer in the 400 (1:07.12).

As a team, the girls placed 10th of 14 with 17 points. McPherson won with 103.

The Bluebirds started their season at the Reming?ton CKTL Tuesday. Wiens earned two first-place individual finishes and anchored the winning 4×400 relay team to lead the boys? team. Wiens won the 110 hurdles (17.8) and the 300 hurdles (45.7), and placed first in the 4×400 with Jordan Griffin, Freddy Scheffe and Zach Zogleman (4:14.5).

As a team, the boys finished third with 55 points. Central Christian won with 100.

The girls earned four first-place medals. Brittney Hiebert won the 400 (1:05.4) and the 800 (2:43.1) and anchored the winning 4×400 relay team with Abby Han?non, Julia Nightengale and Olivia Duerksen (5:01.7).

Duerksen earned the Bluebirds? fourth gold medal in the high jump (4-6).

As a team, the girls placed second with 80 points behind Central Christian (103).

The Bluebirds were scheduled to host a meet Tuesday and will travel to Halstead April 19.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors competed at the Marion Relays Friday.

The boys tied for eighth in the 15-team field with 18 points.

Cody Partridge won the long jump (20-10) and finished second in the high jump (5-10).

The girls did not score. Cheyenne Shaw was the Warriors? highest finisher, placing 19th in the 200 (32.14).

The Warriors opened their season at Sterling Tuesday in a meet called early because of weather.

The boys earned five first-place medals. Cody Partridge won the long jump (personal-best 22-11?4) and the high jump (5-10), while Austin Reynolds won the triple jump (38-21?4) and the 110 hurdles (17.03). Andrew Wedel won the shot put (42-11?2).

Elena Miccone led the girls with a fourth-place finish in the long jump (12-63?4).

The Warriors were scheduled to compete at Sterling Tuesday and will travel to Buhler April 19.

GOLF

Centre?The Cougars par?ticipated in the Hillsboro Invitational Friday. Nathaniel Engler finished sixth with an 18-hole score of 97.

The Cougars kicked off the season at Herington Tuesday. Engler was Centre?s only finisher, carding an 18-hole score of 100 to finish fourth among 63 finishers.

Centre was scheduled to compete at Emporia Tues?day and will travel to Newton April 21.

Goessel?The Bluebirds competed at the Hillsboro Invitational Friday.

Braden Roby earned the third-place medal with an 18-hole score of 95. Rhett Makovec placed 14th (101).

As a team, Goessel placed fourth with a score of 434. Halstead won with 387.

The Bluebirds began the season at Herington April 5. Rhett Makovec led the team with a 104 to place 10th among63 finishers. Braden Roby shot 117 (29th), Jordan Schmucker 124 (44th), Jayce Schmidt 125 (45th), Carson Sterk 125 (46th) and Luke Unruh 133 (53rd).

Goessel placed eighth of 10 teams with a score of 470. Halstead won with 408.

The Bluebirds were scheduled to compete at Central Christian Monday and will travel to Hesston April 21.
