The girls finished as tournament runners-up with a 2-1 record.

Centre defeated Wakefield in the quarterfinals Tuesday, 37-27. Shelby Pankratz led all scorers with nine points.

The Cougars then defeated Solomon Friday in the semifinals, 37-28. Centre outscored the Gorillas 12-5 in the fourth quarter. Kelsey Hett and Summer Espinoza shared top scoring honors with nine points each.

Centre lost to Marion in the finals, 37-34. Kate Basore led all scorers with 16 points. For more on the championship game, see elsewhere in sports.

The boys finished fourth in the tournament with a 1-2 record.

Centre defeated Herington Tuesday, 68-41, then lost to Elyria Christian in the semifinals Friday, 67-43.

Centre lost to Rural Vista, 48-45 in overtime Saturday to finish fourth in the tournament.

The Cougars will play at Solomon Jan. 31.

Goessel—The Bluebird boys finished fifth in the Burrton Invitational last week with a 2-1 record.

Goessel lost to Central Christian in the quarterfinals Tuesday, 54-34.

The Bluebirds then defeated Fairfield, 41-35, Thursday in the consolation semifinals.

Jordan Griffin led all scorers with 13 points. Rhett Makovec and Dylan Lindeman each scored 11.

Goessel defeated Little River in the fifth-place game Saturday, 29-27. Griffin led the team with eight points.

The girls lost to Moundridge Friday, 40-29.

The boys will play at Moundridge Friday. Both teams will play Little River Jan. 31.

Peabody-Burns—The Warriors competed at Centre’s Cougar Classic last week.

The girls went 0-3.

The Warriors lost to Marion in the quarterfinals Tuesday, 58-22. For more on the game, see elsewhere in sports.

Peabody-Burns then lost to Elyria Christian Friday in the consolation semifinals, 36-24, then lost to Wakefield in the seventh-place game Saturday, 32-20.

The boys went 0-3. The Warriors lost to Rural Vista, 59-27, in the quarterfinals Tuesday, then lost to Wakefield Friday in the consolation semifinals, 47-34.

Peabody-Burns concluded the tournament with a 39-28 loss to Herington Saturday.

The Warriors will play at Elyria Christian Jan. 31.
