CROSS COUNTRY

Canton-Galva?The Eagles concluded their season at the Class 2A regional at Belleville Saturday.

Lane Wiens paced the boys with a 40th-place finish among 69 runners with a time of 20 minutes, 24.38 seconds. Cash Toews was 42nd (20:31.14), Dawson Minson 46th (20:57.92), Logan Miller 52nd (21:31.14) and Zach Snow 64th (23:42.46). As a team, the Eagles finished ninth with a score of 208.

Meanwhile, Maddie Snow paced the girls with a 24th-place finish among 45 runners in 25:31.06. Whitney Nightingale was 38th (28:08.49).

Centre?CJ Thompson qualified for state by placing 11th among a field of 44 with a time of 20 minutes, 18.69 seconds at the Class 1A regional hosted by Pleasanton Saturday.

Thompson will compete at the Class 1A state meet in Wamego Saturday. Race time is 10:45 a.m.

Goessel?Both Bluebird teams have qualified for state following their performances at the Class 1A regional hosted by Pleasanton Saturday. For results, see elsewhere in sports.

FOOTBALL

Canton-Galva at Goessel?The Eagles were forced to forfeit Friday?s matchup, giving Goessel, by rule, a 21-0 victory.

Canton-Galva (0-4, 1-7) will conclude the season by hosting Ellinwood (2-2, 5-3)?Thursday. Both teams have already been eliminated from postseason contention. Goessel (1-3, 3-5) will conclude its season with a game at district champion Central Plains (4-0, 7-1) Thursday.

Centre?The Cougars defeated Wilson, 54-8, Friday to be named Class 8-man, Division II District 2 runners-up. Centre built a 46-8 lead by halftime and totalled 323 yards of offense.

Chase won the district at 4-0, 8-0.

The Cougars (3-1, 3-5) will complete the regular-season by hosting Sylvan (1-3, 3-5) Thursday.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors suffered a 48-0 loss to Burlingame Friday.

Peabody-Burns (2-2, 4-4) will conclude the season at Lebo (2-2, 3-5) Thursday. Both teams have already been eliminated from postseason play. Burlingame clinched the 8-man, Division I District 3 championship at 4-0. Rural Vista is runners-up (3-1).

VOLLEYBALL

Canton-Galva?The Eagles earned a pair of wins Tuesday, defeating Burrton (25-12, 25-13) and Elyria Christian (25-21, 25-17).

Then, in the Class 2A sub-state hosted by Moundridge, No. 3 Canton-Galva defeated No. 6 Ellinwood in the quarterfinals (15-25, 26-24, 25-10). The Eagles lost to No. 2 Hillsboro in the semifinals (25-15, 25-17).

Canton-Galva concludes the season with an overall record of 20-15.

Centre?Centre went 1-1 at the Class 1A-Division I sub-state tournament hosted by Wakefield Saturday.

The No. 4 Cougars opened with a first-round victory over No. 5 Rural Vista (25-21, 25-20), but lost to No. 1 Lebo in the semifinals (25-21, 25-20).

Centre concludes the season with an overall record of 13-20.

Goessel?The Bluebirds qualified for state by winning the Class 1A, Division I sub-state they hosted Saturday. For results, see elsewhere in sports.

Peabody-Burns?As the No. 4 seed in the Class 1A, Division I sub-state hosted by Goessel, the Warriors defeated No. 5 Langdon-Fairfield in the quarterfinals (27-25, 20-25, 25-21) before being defeated by eventual champion and first-seeded Goessel in the semifinals (25-3, 25-5).

Peabody-Burns concludes the season with an overall record of 9-23.
