A 13-5 Hutch run in the first quarter put the Bluebirds in a deep hole. But Goessel circled the wagons and outscored their opponent 14-12 in the second frame. A 6-point halftime deficit multiplied during the third quarter, as Trinity outscored Goessel 24-2.
Karina Harvey scored 6 points, Jennifer Raymond 5, Jessica Goertzen 4 and Aspen Frey 3 for GHS. Frey recorded a team-high four steals, but Goessel committed 28 turnovers.
The Bluebirds will return to action Jan. 4 at Sedgwick. On Jan. 5, Burrton visits Goessel. The postponed Dec. 14 home game against Argonia will be made up Jan. 28.
