The Bluebirds preserved their top-2 ranking in the Wichita Eagle poll with a 52-7 win at Stafford on Friday night.

Goessel scored three times in the first quarter before Stafford returned a kickoff 78 yards for their only score of the night.

Craig Banman scored five touchdowns: one by way of Austin Unruh pass, one by way of 22-yard fumble recovery, one by punt return and two by way of rush.

Unruh went 32 yards for a first quarter score and Kendall Voth caught a touchdown pass early in the second period. The game ended at half-time by way of the eight-man 45 point rule.

Up next, Goessel (5-0) travels to Little River for and Heart of America League game this Friday. It will also count in the district column, in which the Bluebirds are 3-0.

Centre

Celebrating homecoming, the Cougars demolished Elk Valley 54-8, with Cahn Antoszyk scoring on a 14-yard run 40 seconds into the game. Ben Krause scored on a 3-yard run with 5:13 to go in the first quarter, and Krause hit Zach Antoszyk with a 32-yard pass at 2:21.

Centre converted only one of the 2-point conversion tries, but led by 20 when the teams traded ends. Elk Valley?s Devon Packett scored on a 1-yard run 37 seconds into the second frame, but it was all Centre from there.

Zach Antoszyk opened the floodgates, scoring on a 61-yarder from Krause 11 seconds later, and adding a 20-yard interception return with 2:26 left in the first half.

In between Antoszyk?s scores, Alex Hajek added two touchdown receptions from Krause: a 9-yarder at 5:51 and a 17-yarder at 3:13. On defense, Tanner Brunner made 10 tackles.

Up next, Centre hosts Waverly at 7 p.m. Friday.
