Goessel vs. Canton-Galva

?The Bluebirds defeated the Eagles 68-18 Friday in Goessel.

On the first possession of the game, the Bluebirds forced Canton-Galva to punt; Goessel scored two offensive plays.

Goessel led 16-0 at the end of the first quarter, and scored again leading off the second quarter. Canton-Galva responded by taking the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for its first score, but trailed 18-6.

The teams traded touchdowns again, and Goessel ended the half with a kick return touchdown of their own, and led 40-12 at the half.

The Bluebirds scored twice in the third period, but the Eagles scored their second kick return touchdown of the night in reply.

Leading 54-18 to start the fourth quarter, the Bluebirds ended the game with a pair of touchdown runs by Travis Fensky. Craig Banman scored four touchdowns and Austin Unruh carried for three.

Bryant Baldwin scored all three Canton-Galva touchdowns.

The win secures both the Heart of America 8-man league title and a spot in the playoffs for the Bluebirds.

Canton-Galva (4-4) finished district play 2-4. Goessel (8-0) will be at Pretty Prairie Thursday, with a chance to capture the district championship.
