Peabody-Burns

On Friday night, the Peabody-Burns High School football team opened its slate with a 21-12 win over Inman. Elliot Spechtenhauser scored the first two Warrior touchdowns. The first came as he crashed into the end zone from six yards out and the second came on a 45-yard dash.

Trevor Hamm added another score during the third quarter to give PBHS a 21-6 lead.

The Warriors blanked the Teutons in the first and third quarters and denied 2-point conversion attempts after both of Inman?s scores.

Will Pratt converted all three kicks for PBHS.

Peabody-Burns totaled 315 yards on the ground, with Hamm accounting for 151 on 20 carries and Spechtenhauser contributing 155 on 13 attempts.

The Warrior defense limited Inman to 124 rushing yards, and the Teutons struck for 264 more through the air.

On Sept. 7, the Warriors welcome Bennington to Peabody for their first home game of the season. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Centre

?The Cougars faced Madison at Centre High School on Friday where the Bulldogs were the better team, outscoring Centre 48-0.

Centre trailed by 22 at the end of the first quarter, and was unable to make up any ground in the second.

Centre plays at Wakefield on Friday. The Cougars defeated the Bombers 22-20 a season ago.

Canton-Galva

The Eagles played Remington at Canton-Galva High School on Friday, and fell by a score of 22-7. Additional information was not made available to the Free Press.

The Eagles play at Hutch-Trinity on Friday with a chance to build on a 20-19 win in last year?s constest.

Goessel

The Goessel High School football team opened the 2007 season on the road against Norwich and came away with a 32-30 win. Additional information was not made available to the Free Press.

Hartford is next up for the Bluebirds. The contest, Goessel?s first home game of 2007, will kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday.
