Canton-Galva vs. Peabody Burns?A third-quarter scoring burst propelled Peabody-Burns past Canton-Galva, 38-8, Friday.

The Warriors scored six points in the first quarter and still led 6-0 at halftime. PBHS then reeled off 32 unanswered points for the easy win.

The Eagles held Peabody-Burns scoreless in the final quarter and scored a touchdown to avoid the shut-out. The loss dropped them to 3-1 for the year.

PBHS quarterback Hunter Pickens scored a touchdown and completed nine passes for 145 yards. He ran for 59 yards, while teammate Austin Savage ran for 63 yards and a score, and added two sacks on defense.

Braxton Kyle had 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns, with Garrett Schroeder adding a rushing touchdown.

PBHS will take a 3-1 record into a Wheat State matchup with Centre (2-2), while CGHS will play Central Plains (2-2) Friday in a non-league game.

Centre?The Cougars rolled over Burlingame 64-22 Friday in a non-league contest to improve to 2-2 on the season. Additional information was not available for this game.

CHS is scheduled to take on Peabody-Burns in a Wheat State contest Friday.

Goessel?The Bluebirds (2-2) crushed visiting Burrton (0-4) 58-6 Friday, scoring 36 points in the first quarter and 22 in the second before the game was called.

Quarterback Trey Schmidt completed five passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns and finished second in rushing with 48 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Schmidt recorded seven solo tackles and six assists.

Kellen Froese led Goessel with 54 yards rushing and a touchdown. Nic?Buller caught two passed for 39 yards and a touchdown and added 10 tackles on defense.

Shane Goerzen caught a 35-yard pass for a touchdown and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a second score. Zach Showalter caught two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown and Chase Flaming added 11 yards and a touchdown.

GHS is scheduled to play Tescott in a non-league game Friday.
