Canton-Galva vs.Goessel -Canton-Galva improved to 2-0 with another impressive win Friday, this time against non-league foe Goessel, 76-56. The loss dropped the Bluebird to 0-2.

Cody Savage completed 20 of 30 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns. Goessel?s Trey Schmidt completed 19 of 35 for 287 yards and seven touchdowns.

Savage also led the Eagles in rushing with 128 yards on 22 carries for three touchdowns. AJ Medley added 56 yards on 13 carries for two touchdowns.

Schmidt led Bluebird runners with 71 yards on 11 attempts.

Canton-Galva?s Travis Unruh caught six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. Devin Helton caught four for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Cameron Webster added a 23-yard touchdown reception for the Eagles.

Shane Goerzen led Goessel with seven receptions for 116 yards and four touchdowns. Nic Buller added 122 yards and two touchdowns on eight catches.

Medley anchored the Eagle defense with seven solo tackles and Trey Moddelmog added a tackle and an interception.

Schmidt had 8.5 tackles for Goessel, with Goerzen adding an interception.

CGHS is scheduled to play St. John?s Military at home Friday, while GHS travels to Southern Cloud in Miltonvale.

Centre?The Cougars traveled to Wakefield Friday only to suffer a 58-14 loss, falling to 1-1 on the season.

Wakefield outscored Centre 16-8 in the first quarter and 20-6 in the second period. They shut out the Cougars in the second half for the 44-point margin.

CHS is scheduled to host Burlingame Sept. 21 after a bye week.

Peabody-Burns?The Warriors lost a tough battler to Little River on Friday, 34-32.

The Redskins outscored Peabody-Burns 20-14 in the first quarter. The Warriors took a 32-26 lead by the end of the third quarter. Little River managed a final touchdown while holding Peabody-Burns scoreless.

PBHS quarterback Hunter Pickens was 12 of 30 through the air for 166 yards, and ran for 115 yards and five touchdowns on 21 attempts. Christian Gard caught seven passes for 31 yards, while Braxton Kyle led the defense with seven tackles and five assists; Gard contributed six tackles and six assists. PBHS (1-1) is scheduled to play at Burlingame Friday.
