Canton-Galva

After running well at Stafford on Thursday, the Eagles got some good news this week, with Nathan Bray being medically cleared to run in the next race. Bray had been out with a broken arm.

Riley Nigh finished in 28th place at Stafford with a time of 22:26 in the upperclassmen race.

Tad Wedel (29th, 23:21), Nick Skiles (37th, 24:07), Sam Janzen (46th, 25:49) and Codey Johnson (53rd, 28:29) all ran the underclassmen race.

?Tad is coming along,? coach Lyle Silsby said. ?He improved over a minute from last week and we hope to see continued improvement.?

Nigh improved his time by 45 seconds.

In the underclassmen girls? race, Michelle Shannon placed 15th and medaled with a 4-kilometer time of 24:47.

CGHS next runs at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Marion.

Goessel

The Bluebirds ran at Peabody this week. The boys? varsity placed 19th out of 26 teams and the boys? J.V. placed second out of four teams.

In the varsity run, Jared Reimer (36th, 20:58) led the team. He was followed by Jake Schrag (49th, 22:14), Chris Johnston (51st, 22:46) and Anthony Esau (53rd, 22:50).

Johnathan Berkholz placed first among 39 runners with a time of 20:47 in the J.V. race. Laird Goertzen finished third with a time of 21:12. Isaac Fast (8th, 22:20) and Chad Wedel (13th, 22:50,) also medaled.

The GHS girls were led by a sixth-place finish by Kristen Hoffman (16:55) and Shanna Klassen medaled in the underclassmen race (16th, 20:36).

Goessel was to ran at Southeast of Saline on Tuesday and at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Marion.

Peabody-Burns

The Warriors hosted its home meet Thursday, and the boys edged Hesston to finish in the top spot.

Aaron Topham won the race, finishing in 18:33. He was followed by Duane Unruh (12th, 19:26), Ryan Wiebe (13th, 19:35), Kendall Wiebe (19th, 19:52), Josh Klarmann (22nd, 19:57), Sheldon Wiebe (30th, 20:38), Seth Methvin (21:40) and Ethan Riggs (22:20).

For the girls, Sam Pickens finished the 4-K course in 23:09 for 46th place. Erica Frederick?s time was 27:40. Lauren Pickens won the junior varsity girls? race in 18:01.

PBHS will compete at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Marion County Lake.
