Canton-Galva ?The Eagles competed at cross-country regionals Saturday, led by senior Eli Janzen with a 27th-place finish in 20 minutes, 41 seconds.
?After running so well last week at league, Eli was very disappointed with his performance on Saturday,? said coach Lyle Silsby. ?The kids gave it their all though, and that?s all you can ask.?
Also competing in the boys? race was Lane Wiens (42nd, 22:03), Ren Dieker (58th, 25:53), and Ben Young (61st, 27:54).
Brittany Dieker led the girls with a 40th-place finish in 20:28. Other runners competing included Katie Diehl (48th, 22:58) and Krystal May (51st, 23:53).
Goessel?The Bluebird boys? team finished third at regionals Saturday at Cessna Activity Center in Wichita to move on to the state meet.
Leading the boys was Davis Cook, who earned a 13th-place finish in 19 minutes, 52 seconds, with other competitors including Grant Flaming (19th, 20:36), Nathan Czarnowsky (21st, 20:57), Ben Wiens (22nd, 21:05), Heath Goertzen (26th, 21:21), Jake Herrel (21st, 21:54) and Zach Wiens?(37th, 22:48).
For the girls, senior Ali Buller qualified as an individual, earning a sixth-place finish in 17:47.
