Canton-Galva?The Eagles competed at the Heart of Amer?ica league meet Thursday. Eli Janzen led the team with a personal-best time of 18 minutes, 32 seconds for 14th place.

?He has been getting faster and stronger each race, and it is great seeing him competing so well going into regionals next week,? coach Lyle Silsby said.

Also competing in the boys? varsity race were Lane Weins (33rd, 20:30), Ren Dieker (47th, 22:41), Ben Young (52nd, 24:11), Ethan Dailey (53rd, 24:33), and Trey Wedel (54th, 28:39) and Pedro Sartor (58th, 28:54).

?All these guys ran their best races of the year,? Silsby said. ?This is the first year for all of them to run, and all have made steady progress.?

For the girls, Brittany Decker finished 32nd in 19:41.

?Not her best race, but she has given it her all in every race,? Silsby said. ?She is a freshman, and like Lane, it will be exciting to see her progress toward next season.?

Also competing were Katie Diehl (50th, 22:32) and Krystal May (53rd, 23:51).

The Eagles are scheduled to run at regionals Saturday at Hill City.
