The Goessel boys? and girls? teams ended their seasons in the semifinals ofthe Class 2A sub-state at Herington.
The Bluebird boys fell to Olpe 48-37 Friday night. The Bluebird girls fell to Madison-Hamilton 56-40 Thursday.
The Goessel boys finish their season 11-11. The girls finish 12-10.
Goessel?s boys and girls basketball teams advanced to the semifinals of the Herington sub-state bracket with wins Monday and Tuesday nights.
Both Bluebirds teams entered sub-state as six seeds playing the quarterfinal game on the road.
The Goessel boys traveled to Peabody-Burns and upset the No. 3 seeded Warriors, 67-62, Tuesday. The Bluebirds will play the No. 2 seed Olpe (19-2) Friday at 6 p.m. in Herington. Olpe beat Solomon, 70-40, in Olpe Monday to advance.
The Bluebird girls dropped to No. 3 seed Chase County, 39-34, Monday in Cottonwood Falls. Goessel will play Madison/Hamilton Thursday at 6 p.m. in Herington. The Bulldogs advanced, beating Peabody-Burns, 57-11, Monday in Madison.
In other area sub-state action, Canton-Galva?s boys and girls basketball teams ended their seasons with losses in the quarterfinals of the Herington bracket.
The Eagle girls fell to Olpe, 87-15, Monday in Olpe. The Eagle boys lost at Herington, 57-28, Tuesday.
The Canton-Galva boys finished the season with a record of 4-18.
The Eagle girls ended their season with a record of 6-16.
