The Marion cross country team turned in three top 10 varsity finishes at the Centre Invitational at Herington Thursday.
?The course at Herington was much hillier than the Hesston meet, which made the course a tougher challenge,??coach Rebecca Hofer said. ?Even with the hills and the wind we had eight new personal records. The runners all ran hard, and I felt very pleased with how the meet went.?
In the girls? race, McKenzee Remmers placed fourth among a field of 23 runners with a time of 23 minutes, 33.3 seconds. Emily Hague finished close behind, placing fifth in 23:38.9. Meggan Frese completed the girls? varsity runners, trimming nearly 30 seconds from last week?s time to place 12th (25:11.0).
Meanwhile, Colin Williams paced the boys, shaving nearly 50 seconds from his time at Hesston. Williams crossed the finish line in 18:23.9, good for fourth place among a field of 43. Tyler Arocha was 19th (20:44.9), Jarrett Johnson 24th (21:04.1), Magnus Maarslet 30th (21:38.2), Logan Waner 34th (22:46.3), Ethan Darnall 41st (25:24.4) and Taylor Fahey 43rd (26:11.1).
In junior varsity girls? action, AJ Arterburn placed fourth of 12 (28:56.4). Shyla Harris was ninth (33:31.4) and Brittany Hett 12th (35:28.4).
For the junior varsity boys, Joeb Corona was 22nd of 43 (24:12.9) and Devin Hamm 33rd (27:26.0).
Coming?Marion was scheduled to host a meet Tuesday. The Warriors will run at Halstead Oct. 1.
