Goessel Boys return with strong numbers for basketball season

The Bluebird boys lost some height from last year, but they are still fast and will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

“Offensively we are returning a good chunk of our scoring from last season but did lose a lot of our height so rebounding will be a key. Defensively we will look to our speed to help make up for the loss of height from graduation,” said Coach Curtis Guhr who returns for his 11th year coaching at Goessel.

Some of the key players for the team include seniors 6-1 Skyler Wuest, 6-3 Caiden Duerksen and 5-11 Jacob Schrag and junior 5-7 Kacen Smith.

“With large numbers once again, we look forward to competitiveness in practices and finding the right people to fit into roles will be important to how successful this year can be. We look to build off last year’s success and continue to build our program,” Guhr said.

The Bluebirds get started on Dec. 3 in Marion.
