Zookeepers share animal secrets from Rolling Hills Zoo

About 75 children participating in the Hillsboro Public Library?s summer reading program kicked off the season last Wednesday afternoon with a presentation on animals by representatives from the Rolling Hills Zoo & Museum near Salina. The gathering of around 100 people, including adults, got to see and touch animals skins and skulls as well as observe a live rat, desert tortoise and African bullfrog. In the top photo, student assistant Quinn Katherineberg displays a real rhinocerous horn while presenter Cynthia Hoffman describes the animal?s habits. In the right photo, another student assistant, Tristan Irish, lets the children feel a skin shed by one of the snakes at Rolling Hills. The Rolling Hills presentation in Hillsboro was the 12th of 16 scheduled at libraries in the in the area.
