Vogt breaks swimming records

Lauryn Vogt, sixth grade, was awarded on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park KS. She received the Missouri Valley Top 5 Award and she was also recognized for the Missouri Valley record she broke….10 year old, 400 IM record. The record was from 2009 and a time of 6.23.23 and she broke it with a time of 6.01.84.

She also qualified for the 14 & Under Central Zone Swimming Championship that was in Fargo ND, August 1 – 4, 2019. She swims for the Newton Nitros in Newton KS, but she was competing in Fargo for the Missouri Valley team. She qualified in the 100 fly. She made first alternate for finals. She also swam in the 11-12 year old girls 400 free relay for the Missouri Valley team and they placed seventh. Other states competing were North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, Midwestern, Oklahoma, Arkansas & Missouri Valley.

On Sunday, August 18, she was also recognized at the Newton Nitros awards banquet for breaking 12 of the 9-10 year old records for long course and 3 of the 11-12 records.
