Utting wins Hillsboro club tourney

Powered by a first-day 71, Stan Utting posted a 36-hole score of 145 to win the championship flight of the Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course club tournament held Saturday and Sunday. The tournament featured 42 golfers divided into four flights.

Utting posted a 74 on Sunday, finishing with a two-day total of 145?two strokes ahead of Phillip Thiessen (147).

In the first flight, John Knaak placed first (158) and Clint Seibel placed second (168). In the second flight, Gary Andrews and Carl Long both required 166 strokes, but Andrews? Sunday score (81) broke the tie in his favor.

In the third flight, Lonnie Hamm placed first (178) and Lyle Unruh placed second (182).
