The Canton-Galva High School track-and-field program is under new leadership this spring.
Kelly Unruh, the long-time coach of middle school track, has stepped up to the high school team.
In his first season, Unruh has 15 athletes out for track, including state-qualifier Angel Little, who competed in Class 2A shot put.
As a sophomore, Little finished 11th at Wichita with a school-record throw of 33 feet, 101?2 inches.
The Eagles are returning two seniors.
Marc Jowers, who competes in hurdles and javelin, and Brooke Berg, who long jumps.
?We are excited to have as many kids out as we do,? Unruh said.
?We have some kids out who have never played a sport before, but want to be part of a team which is cool.
?The kids we have out are working very hard and I have been very impressed by their effort and desire to improve.?
Canton-Galva begins its competitive season April 6 by hosting a five-team meet at Moundridge. Events begin at 4:30 p.m.
