Two chosen to Kansas Babe Ruth Classic

Bray, KlingensmithTanner Klingensmith (right) and Nick Bray (left) represented the Canton-Galva 15-year-old Babe Ruth team in the Kansas Babe Ruth Classic Aug. 18 in Council Grove. Klingensmith was selected as pitcher and catcher, while Bray was chosen as a first baseman and pitcher. ?Players are selected not only for their skills and abilities, but for their sportsmanship and citizenship also,? Canton-Galva coach Kelly Nelson said. ?Both Tanner and Nick are very fine examples of this.? The Classic, which began in 1999, highlights 36 of the most talented 15-year-old athletes from the Babe Ruth program across the state. The event involves two seven-inning games between the West team and the East team.
