Three state qualifiers will lead MHS golf

Coming off a seventh-place Class 3A state finish and looking for its third straight regional championship, coaches Tod Gordon and Lee Leiker and the Marion High School golf team will carry plenty of firepower into the new season.

Returning for the Warriors is three-time state qualifier Lindsay Hett, who shot a 92 at state, six strokes from a medal. She is the only senior returning with varsity experience.

Junior Landon Leiker is a two-time state qualifier. He will compete with Hett for the Warriors? top spot. Leiker shot a 94 at state.

Sophomore Scott Jones also has state experience, shooting a 92 last spring in his first state appearance.

Other returning letter-winners are Tim Costello, Jordan Versch, Jared Vondenkamp and Adam Molleker.

?This should be another great season, with the same team goal to improve each and every day and enjoy the great game of golf,? Gordon said.

Marion begins its season April 6 at Herington. Teams tee off at 1 p.m.
