The threesome was among 35 participants between ages 6 and 16 in this year?s Kids Golf program sponsored by the Hillsboro Recreation Commission. Director Scott O?Hare said the group was divided into a session of 14 kids early in the morning and 21 later in the morning. He was assisted by several volunteer adults. On Friday, the last day of the week-long program, participants were allowed to play several holes on the course.?We spent basically all of our time on the practice green and out on the driving range,? O?Hare said. ?We kept them inside for part of one session to watch a video called ?Spirit of the Game,? which basically is about course etiquette.? The popular Kids Golf program returned last summer after a hiatus of five or six years. ?I?m really happy with the turnout,? O?Hare said. ?I think we have a number of kids here who are going to take up the game and enjoy it for the better part of their life, we hope.?
