Hillsboro?s Bruce-Crofoot Challenge Cup team pose for a shot after winning this year?s head-to-head showdown with Marion?s team, Sept. 13-14, by a final score of 571?2-501?2. The tournament follows a similar format as the Ryder Cup, a biennial men’s golf competition between teams of professional golfers from Europe and the United States. During competition, Team Hillsboro wore a special T-shirt in remembrance of Joe Jennings, a longtime part of the Hillsboro Golf Association and regular member of the local challenge cup team, who died unexpectedly earlier this year at age 49. ?He was a close friend to many of the team members and was truly one of the good guys,? said Mike Padgett. Members of the team are: front row (from left), John Knaak Jr., Mike Unruh, Tim Hein, Anthony Thiessen, Russ Cain, Scott O?Hare, John Bauers, Daniel Moss; back row, Clint Seibel, Phil Thiessen, Rod Hamm, Gary Andrews, Tim Young, Lonny Kent, Ken Johnson, Mike Padgett, Doug Dick, Brock Nieman and John Stohs.
