Marion?s Rindt places third at National Senior Open



A Marion bowler took third in the National Senior Open Tournament the first week of July in Syracuse, N.Y.

Kenney Rindt won the three-game ?Sweeper? round July 5 with a handicap score of 777 prior to competing in the?tournament the following two days. The Sweeper involved around 200 bowlers in the same pool with no age divisions.

Rindt rolled a 246, 231 and 179 for a scratch score of 657, plus a 120-pin handicap.

At the main event July 6-7, Rindt competed in the 50-59 age division. On the first day he rolled a 557 scatch for a handicap score of 677, then followed that with a 558 scratch score for an two-day handicap score of 1,355 for the six games.

That score earned him the third-place award in his age division.

Rindt qualified for the tournament by winning his age division at the Kansas State Senior Open Tournament last October in Hutchinson.

A bowler had to win the ?All Events? category, including the total doubles and singles handicap score. Bowling with a 148-pin handicap, he scored 770 in doubles and 655 in singles for a handicap total of 1,425, which earned him first place.

Rindt was accompanied to New York by wife Bonnie.
