In the absence of one of its strongest challengers, the Marion Blue swim team scored 664 points to extend its unbeaten streak to five weeks. With another week of strong performances by its relay units, the Blue team outscored both host Solomon (435 points) and Council Grove (183) Saturday.
The Marion Red team totaled 152 points. Hillsboro, originally scheduled to participate in the Independence Day meet instead held an intrasquad competition in its home pool.
Garrett Alleven took first place in five events?backstroke, breaststroke, individual medley, medley relay and freestyle relay?in the 9-10 year-old boys division. Kaelyn Thierolf won gold in four individual events as well as medley and freestyle relays in the girls 11-12 division.
Coming?Team swimming season ends Saturday, with both Hillsboro and Marion to compete at the league meet at Hesston.
