Marion blue wins 3-team swim meet

Competing in a three-team meet Saturday in Marion, the hometown Team Blue came away with another first-place finish.

Marion Blue won the meet with 737 points, followed by Hillsboro (396), Marion Red (268) and the Hesston Wahoos (39).

Marion Blue won 38 individual gold medals and 20 relay medals. Hillsboro won 15 individual medals.

Leading the way for Marion with multiple first-place finishers were Garrett Alleven, Janson Garman, Luke Lanning, Jay Dee Schafers, Neal Grace, Kristen Herzet and Randy Carlson.

Alleven won the boys? 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, freestyle and breaststroke in the 11- to 12-year-old category.

Garman took first in the boys? 9- to 10-year-old 100-yard freestyle, 25-yard backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke.

Lanning won the boys? eight and under 25-yard butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke. Schaffers took gold in the girls? 15- to 18-year-old 100-yard freestyle, individual medley, 50-yard backstroke and freestyle.

Grace won the girls? 9- to 10-year-old 100-yard freestyle, 25-yard butterfly and freestyle.

Herzet placed first in the girls? 50-yard butterfly and breaststroke.

Carlson won the boys? 50-yard backstroke and freestyle in the 15- to 18-year-old category.

Leading Hillsboro was Harry Faber, Nathaniel Stang and Taylor Thiessen with three gold medals a piece.

Braden Vogt and Kennedy Fahey had two gold medals a piece. Jeff Pritchard and Sonja Jost finished with one medal per.

Faber placed first in the boys? 13-14 year old 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke and breaststroke.

Taylor Thiessen won the girls? 13-14 year old 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly and freestyle. Nathaniel Stang won gold in the 100-yard individual medley, 50-yard butterfly and breaststroke.

Braden Vogt won the 100-yard individual medley and the 25-yard butterfly in the boys? 9- to 10-year-old class.

Kennedy Fahey won the girls? eight and under 25-yard backstroke and freestyle. Jeff Pritchard won the boys? 13-14 year old butterfly and Sonja Jost won the girls? 9- to 10-year old 25-yard backstroke.
