The Hillsboro Recreation Commission is sponsoring two fitness competitions for the public Saturday, Aug. 22.
The Triple Digit 5K Run is open to all ages while the Triple Threat Triathlon is planned for youth ages 7 to 15.
Participants in the Triple Digit Run will meet at the Hills?boro Museums Visitors Center in Memorial Park (off the corner of D and Birch streets) for check-in from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. The run starts at 7:30 a.m.
The certified 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) course winds through the streets of Hillsboro. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age division.
The entry entry fee is $20 through Aug. 14, and $25 after that date. Those who preregister by Aug. 14 are assured of a T-shirt.
The Triple Threat Triathlon will start at 9 a.m. Registration is limited to the first 50 participants between ages 7-15. Each entrant will swim 100 meters, bike four miles and run one mile.
Check-in will be at the Hills?boro Family Aquatic Center starting at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $25 for the first 50 participants, with no waiting list.
