HRC offers kids volleyball camp

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission will be sponsoring an instructional youth volleyball camp for all USD 410 third- to sixth-grade girls and boys this month.

The camp will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday evenings Sept. 8 through Sept. 29 at the Hillsboro High School gym.

The camp will emphasize learning the proper skills for serving, setting, passing and spiking.

This is not a league, and games will not be played unless the instructors feel the players are ready.

All participants will report at the same time but will be grouped accordingly by the instructors.

Participants are asked to wear clothing appropriate for physical activity. Enrollment will be limited to the first 40 participants.

The camp will be taught by Hillsboro Middle School Coach Stephanie Sinclair plus assistants and players. The cost is $20 and will include an official camp T-shirt.

The deadline to enter is Sept. 5. Contact Doug Sisk, HRC director, at 620-947-3490, or by e-mail at recreation@cityofhillsboro. net, or visit the city of Hillsboro Web page to print off entry flyers.
