Hillsboro football coach to offer youth camps

Lance Sawyer will be offering camps for local youth from fifth grade through high school as he prepares for his first year as head football coach at Hillsboro High School.

All high schoolers intending to play football this fall are asked to attend a non-contact camp from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 9 through 13 at Joel H. Wiens Stadium.

?Our focus will be on teaching position fundamentals, introducing our offensive schemes and bringing the team together,? Sawyer said.

?We will install all alignments, stances and keys needed to execute out complete systems.?

Sawyer is offering a one-day camp July 13 for youth entering the fifth through eighth grades, also at the stadium.

?Our focus will be on teaching game fundamentals, introducing basic offensive and defensive schemes and letting the kids have fun,? Sawyer said.

?The high school players will be there to establish some connection with the younger athletes.?

The high school camp will cost $30 per participant and the junior camp is $25.
