Matthew Hiebert, Peabody, has been name to the 2009 Kansas Babe Ruth ?Classic? all-star game.
Classic XI will be played Sunday, Aug. 16 at Wellington, and will feature 36 of the best 15-year-old Babe Ruth players in Kansas. The East and West teams were selected by the district commissioners during the district tournament play, July 23-26.
Hiebert played with the Hillsboro CVL national team during district playoffs at Cottonwood Falls. During the Babe Ruth regular season, he played on the 13/15-year-old Peabody-Burns recreation league team.
Hiebert will be a sophomore at Peabody-Burns Jr./Sr. High School this fall. His parents are Lon and Deb Hiebert of rural Peabody.
