The Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team returns five players from a team that posted a 15-19 overall record and went 3-8 in the Heart of America league in 2008.

Seniors Danielle Savage and Julie Wedel ?will be relied on heavily for attacking and net play,? coach Darren Schroeder said. They will be supported by defensive specialist Kaitlyn Preheim, who brings four years of experience in the role to the Warriors? back line.

Peabody-Burns does not have a returning setter and will rely on senior Traylee Woodruff and sophomore Mikayla Winter to create chances for the hitters.

Two juniors will join the Warriors front line: Embry Hodges and Michaela Methvin.

?The group has been working extremely hard on their weaknesses so far,? Schroeder said. ?They have a strong desire to improve daily, and if our ball control continues to improve, we should be competitive throughout the season.?

Peabody hosted its preseason tournament Aug. 29 and next plays Sept. 8 at Inman.
