Eagles sweep Chase, Hillsboro

The Canton-Galva 13- to 15-year-old Junior Babe Ruth team swept Chase County at home Wednes?day night.

The Eagles won Game 1, 7-6, after a three-run fifth inning put Canton-Galva in the lead.

Caleb Sovde went 2-for-2 at the plate and Ryan Grant went 2-for-3. Nick Bray contributed two runs batted in.

Grant was the winning pitcher after entering the game in the top of the fifth. Tanner Klingensmith started the game for Canton-Galva.

The Eagles scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to win Game 2, 10-6. Reed Wiens went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Sovde and Hunter Pearson each contributed two RBIs.

Bray picked up the win, giving up one hit and one earned run while walking five and striking out seven.

The Eagles followed with a sweep at Hillsboro Friday.

Canton-Galva won Game 1, 11-5. Ethan Loyd went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Bray went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Grant was winning pitcher, giving up one hit and five runs (three earned) while walking six and striking out six.

The Eagles won Game 2, 26-2, aided by a 13-run first inning.

Loyd went 3-for-3 with one RBI, while Bray went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Wiens was winning pitcher. He gave up two hits and two runs (both earned), while striking out three in two innings of work.?
