Canton-Galva High School volleyball coach Valerie Stout graduated five starters from a team that went 6-23 in the Heart of America league, but also returns four letter-winners.

?Our girls are very competitive and willing to work,? Stout said. ?They work well together and get along well. But our height is a disadvantage and our team is very young. We graduated a large senior class.?

In league play, the Eagles will face ?some of the top teams in the area? in Moundridge, Inman, Goessel and Berean Academy, Stout said.

The team will rely on seniors Tara Scott and Brooke Berg, juniors Kimberlin Voth and Cayla Sommers and sophomore Alyson Bressie.

Canton-Galva?s season began with the Centre quadrangular Tuesday and continues at Bennington Sept. 8.
