Dick wins Pine Edge title

Dale Dick, Moundridge, won the third annual $25,000 putting tournament at Pine Edge Golf Course Saturday. The grand prize, sponsored by Hustler Turf Equipment, was not awarded, as none of the contestants completed the near-impossible task of draining putts of 10, 30 and 50-feet without a miss.

In addition to Dick, four other contestants qualified for a shot at the grand prize: Maynard Stucky, Moundridge; 2007 champion Mark Religa, Goessel; James Everhart, McPherson; and James Wiens, Goessel. A 2-man scramble with 32 registered golfers followed.

Corey Seidl and Mike Whisitt shot 2-under par and won the $40 first prize. Leroy Koehn and Stucky won the $25 second prize, and Zach Frey and Gregg Dick won $15 in third place.

Course owner Myron Schmidt credited the second event for boosting attendance over last year.

?We had 13 out for the tournament last year, 18 the year before and 30 in the first year,? he said. ?Between the scramble and the tournament, this is probably the biggest day we?ve had since we opened.?
